Ladies South America Trip
Day 1- Lima
On arrival you will be met by an English-speaking guide from our local representative office and transferred to your hotel. In the evening you will have a welcome dinner with your fellow travellers and tour leader.
Day 2- Lima
Breakfast in the hotel, then you will visit one of Lima’s symbolic markets to see the amazing variety of fish, fruit, and vegetables used in Peruvian food.Afterwards, you will watch as chefs from a famous restaurant demonstrate how to prepare the Peru’s main dishes and learn how to make an exquisite ceviche or famous lomo saltado. Rounding out this culinary experience is a delicious lunch.
After lunch continue on a half day city sightseeing tour of Lima including a visit to the Larco Herrera Museum. Your tour begins with a visit to Lima’s historic centre; your guide will take you to the most important historical places and impressive monuments.
Visit the Plaza de Armas, birthplace of the city and surrounded by the Cathedral, Archbishop’s Palace and Government Palace. After touring the historic centre you will have the chance to see Lima’s modern face as you visit the districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, home to many of Lima’s best restaurants.
Rest of the day is up to guests.
Day 3- Cuzco/ Scared Valley
A flight from Lima to Cuzco. On arrival you will be met by an English-speaking guide from our local representative office and transferred to your hotel located l in the Sacred Valley with an on-route tour of famous Pisac Markets.
Pisac markets are justifiably renowned as one of South America’s most colourful, located in the town’s central plaza and full of woven blankets, llama and alpaca wool hats, socks and jumpers, jewellery and more.
Afterwards, continue to Posada del Inca Yucay Hotel, located in the Sacred Valley. Dinner is included at the hotel.
Day 4- Sacred Valley of the Incas
Today you will participate on a full day community project in the Village of Misminay combined with a tour of Ollanataytambo ruins & Maras.
Early morning visit the spectacular fortress ruins of Ollantaytamb, followed by a visit to Maras, where you will see the famous salt terraces.
Afterwards you’ll experience a different side of Peru on your tour to Misminay, a small community located at 3,700mts above sea level on the Chinchero high plains. There, you will learn more about the Andean lifestyle, sharing with the local families some of their daily tasks such as ploughing or harvesting, depending on the time of year. A traditional lunch will be prepared for you using local ingredients. Later you will learn how to spin and dye wool using natural dyes from plant sources—roots, berries, bark, leaves, and wood—as well as weave fabrics following their ancient techniques. Most importantly you will also assist them during the installation of the Sawyer Water Filter.
Day 5- Machu Picchu
Transfer to Ollantaytambo train station where your Vistadome train service departs from and takes you on a 90-minute journey to Aguas Calientes, the base for your Machu Picchu exploration.
Upon your arrival into Aguas Calientes Railway Station, you will be met by your English speaking guide who will arrange for your luggage to be taken to El Mapi Hotel for secure storage while you’re exploring Machu Picchu. Your guide will then take you from Aguas Calientes Railway Station up to Citadel of Machu Picchu by a 30-minute mini-bus transfer and give a briefing of how the morning’s 1-2 hour guided walking tour will be conducted.
After exploring the most fascinating features of this astounding and mysterious Inca settlement, your tour concludes with buffet lunch at Sanctuary Lodge. The remaining afternoon is free for your own leisure. A return mini bus is included, which comes every 15 minutes. Dinner included in the hotel.
Day 6- Cuzco
Return to Machu Picchu this morning to continue your unguided exploration of this extensive site. We recommend rising early and taking one of the first buses; the ruins are much quieter in the morning.
Later this afternoon, take a mini-bus back to the train station and take the Vistadome train back to Ollantaytambo. We recommend leaving the ruins around 90 minutes prior to the departure of your train to allow enough time to collect your luggage from your hotel. On arrival, our representative will meet you and transfer you by road the rest of the way to your hotel in Cuzco, where the bulk of your luggage will be waiting.
Day 7- Cuzco
Discover one of South America’s most beautiful cities on your half day guided tour of UNESCO Heritage Listed Cuzco.
Your tour will show you the amazing colonial city built on the foundations of the Inca palaces. You will visit the Koricancha or Temple of the Sun, where you can appreciate the incredible masonry of the Incas, the Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral with its carved woodworks, altars and paintings.
The tour then makes it way to the Sacsayhuaman fortress, Qenko, Puca-Pucara, and Tambomachay. All of these being important religious and administrative centres for the Incas.
Finally stopping at the workshop “Inka’s Expression”, you then make your way back to Costa del Sol Ramada Cuzco Hotel, having dinner at MAP Café, which is within walking distance.
Day 8- Cuzco
After breakfast, you will be able to roam freely, with a Cuzco Tourist Ticket. This gives you access to: Santa Catalina Monastery, Museo Municipal de Arte Contemporáneo, Museo Historico Regional, Museo del Sitio del Qoricancha, Museo de Arte Popular, Centro Qosqo de Arte Nativo Danzas Folklórico, Monumento Pachacuteq, Sacsayhuamán, Qénqo, Pukapukara, Tambomachay, Chinchero and the ruins of Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Tipón and Pikillacta.
Day 9- Puno
A full day transfer and tour by bus across the altiplano to Puno, situated on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Entry fees to local sites along the way are included. This daily service from Cuzco to Puno steadily climbs up the Vilcanota Valley towards the head waters of the Urubamba River and the highest point of the trip, Abra La Raya at 4321 metres above sea level. From Abra La Raya, it is a gradual descent into the opening grassy plains towards Lake Titicaca and eventually to down to the lake’s edge where Puno is nestled. On arrival, transfer to Casa Andina Private Collection Puno Hotel.
Day 10- Puno
Depart this morning on a half day tour of the Uros Islands, one of Lake Titicaca’s most famous sights.Your guide will discuss the Uros way of life, culture and history and explain how these unique islands are built and maintained. After the tour you will return to Puno by boat and to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to relax at your hotel or explore the small town of Puno.
Day 11- Sun Island
Today you will be met at your hotel this morning (approx. 06:30am) and depart from Puno on a tour travelling around Lake Titicaca and across the border into Bolivia.Early land transfer to Copacabana, visit Sanctuary, board the Catamaran Cruise Ship and sailing to the Sun Island, the legendary birthplace of the Inca Empire and enjoy a delicious buffet lunch on board.
Visit Challapampa Village and enjoy the participative tourism, visitors have the opportunity to interact with one of the most unspoiled indigenous Titicaca villages. Visit their museum, chapel, school, a typical house, sailing in their vessels to an Inca holy temple and walking through Inca trails. Overnight in your Catamaran on Lake Titicaca.
Day 12- La Paz
Full day tour and transfer from Sun Island to Europa Hotel in La Paz. Your Catamaran Cruise Ship sails across the lake enjoying breakfast and the overwhelming panorama visiting the Pilkokaina Inca Palace. Continue to the Inti Wata Cultural Complex including the Ekako Underground Museum, the traditional medicine and the Titikaka Reed Shipbuilders display centers, the Pachamama agricultural Inca terraces, a handicraft center, the Intica lounge and at the Manco Kapac look out the largest variety of Andean camelids. Snack in the Complex. Visit the Inca Garden, steps and the Inca fountain. Also, the Inti Wata Complex at Sun Island includes a unique sailing experience aboard a huge Titikaka Traditional vessel.
Buffet lunch will be served on board while sailing to Chua harbor. Continue overland to your hotel in La Paz.
Day 13- La Paz
This morning you will be met at your hotel by a local representative for a half day tour of La Paz, including a visit to the nearby Valley of the Moon. This 4-hour guided tour of La Paz includes the area of the street markets; rich in handicrafts, weavings and witchcraft artefacts. The Mercado de las Brujas (Witches Market) on the Calle Linares is a highlight- wander the stalls crammed with strange and exotic potions, talismans and cures.
The tour also goes through the colonial part of the city; San Francisco Church, Gold Museum, Murillo Square and the outdoor replica of the Tiahuanaco temple. Then it goes onto the modern part of town. Finally visiting the Valley of the Moon, then the rest of the day is to your leisure.
Day 14- Santiago
Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Santiago via Iquique. On arrival you will be met by an English-speaking guide from our local representative office and transferred to Atton El Bosque Hotel.
Day 15- Santiago
Discover Chile’s vibrant capital, Santiago on a half day guided sightseeing tour. Your panoramic tour will include the most important buildings and monuments, including Government Palace and the Plaza de Armas main square. Enjoy lovely city views from Santa Lucia Hill and visit the enormous Metropolitan Park, the largest urban park in Chile. Finally, you’ll be driven to the residential areas of Vitacura and Las Condes and explore Santiago’s more upmarket neighbourhoods.
Day 16- Santiago
Depart Santiago this morning, traveling through the Curacavi and Casablanca Valleys to arrive at the UNESCO World Heritage Listed port city of Valparaiso.Continue to one of Chile’s most renowned wineries in the Casablanca Valley. During your visit your guide will explain the wine making process from vine to bottle, giving you special insight into one of Chile’s greatest exports and you will have a wine tasting.
Day 17- Rio De Janeiro
Transfer to airport for flight to Rio De Janeiro. On arrival you will be met by an English-speaking guide from our local representative office and transferred to Porto Bay Rio International Hotel.
Day 18- Rio De Janeiro
Depart this morning on a half day tour of Christ the Redeemer & Corcovado. Your guide will pick you up at the hotel and transfer you to the Cosme Velho railroad station, crossing over to the traditional residential district. You will disembark and take a cogwheel train that will ride you up the 710 meters to the statue of Christ. The 20-minute ride gives you just enough time to prepare yourself mentally for what is waiting. At the top of several flights of steps you are beneath the almost 40-metre tall statue of Christ with the whole of Rio at your feet. The entire city spreads out in a magnificent panorama during the day, glittering and magic after dark and always protected by Christ.
Day 19- Rio De Janeiro
Enjoy a half day tour of one of Rio’s iconic landmarks. We’ll drive along the city’s famous beaches to the Urca district for an unforgettable cable car ride to the top of Sugarloaf. The cable car ride is made in two stages; the first car will take you to the Urca Mountain midway station where you can disembark and wander the pretty gardens for already stunning views. The second car will take you to the peak of Sugarloaf where the full crescent of Atlantic beaches comes into view, framed by the rainforest-covered mountains that form the backdrop to Rio. Taking the cable car back down the mountain we’ll return to your hotel.
Day 20- Iguazu Falls
Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Foz do Iguazu.
On arrival you will be met by an English-speaking guide from our local representative office and transferred to the Brazilian side of the falls for your half day tour, exploring the pathways and catwalks of the Foz do Iguacu National Park, one of the largest vegetation reserves in Brazil.
Day 21- Iguazu Falls
Depart this morning on a full day tour of the Argentine side of Iguazu Falls. Once we’ve completed the two viewing circuits we’ll board our train and ride to Estacion Garganta where you get the best views of the enormous Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat) falls. At the end of our tour we’ll take the train back to Estacion Central and transfer to your hotel.
Day 22- Buenos Aires
Transfer to airport for flight to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival you will be transferred to the Recoleta Grand Hotel. Day is left for leisure activities.
Day 23- Buenos Aires
Explore the central and southern parts of the city on a half day guided tour. Rest of the day at leisure; Buenos Aires offers great shopping opportunities.
Day 24- Buenos Aires
A full day tour of the northern barrios of Buenos Aires, exploring places such as the famous Recoleta Cemetery, Recoleta Cultural Centre, Palermo’s national library, Botanical Gardens, and many more places along the way. At the end of the tour you can either go back to the hotel or stay in Palermo and enjoy some free time.
In the evening you’ll be treated to a superb meal served in an exquisitely decorated Art Nouveau style ambience, which recreates the heydays of tango. Sit back and enjoy the spectacle over a glass of Argentine wine. At the end of the show you will be transferred back to your hotel.
Day 25- End of Itinerary
Transfer to the airport after breakfast for your flight back home.
